Hi all,
Following on from @Roestalker39 's excellent .270 find; I'd like to highlight, that you too can be a cheap b*rst*rd like me when it comes to rifle 'improvement'.
I will start with an 'off the shelf'
option, then my own solution.
Cheek riser:
Kalix Teknik adjustable cheek riser: Kalix Teknik adjustable cheek piece
My solution: Economy Pipe Insulation 28 x 13mm x 1m
Split the insulation tube along the pre-existing seam, cut to fit the comb of the stock, then apply downwards pressure to fit, and then tape down with copious amounts of duct tape!
Remember to leave enough space for the bolt, so you can cycle the action and remove the bolt.
Magnification throw levers:
Vortex (S&B etc. are more!) Vortex Throw Levers | Uttings.co.uk
My solution (made in the UK!
) Breakaway nylon coasters
Just wrap it round the power ring and trim the tails!
On a scope that has a smooth, metal magnification ring, you can add some grip tape from the next suggestion, then grip the coaster around it:
Stock upgrade:
Needless to say, you can spend more on a stock than what the rifle costs to buy new, especially if importing into the UK. One big advantage is that some manufacturers incorporate a non-slip surface into the grip and fore-end, particularly useful when shooting in the rain!
My solution: MOB Multi Camo Skateboard Grip Tape
Just add where needed!
All of these being reversable is especially useful on a work rifle:
