Chrono for reloading?

Dear all,
I am looking for a chrono for reloading? I don't think that a barrel attached one is for me. I don't mind if it's not an all singing and dancing connection to an app type either so any recommendations please?
I only need one for my speeds to enhance my reloading please.

Happy to part with my lab radar that works just fine with recoil activated trigger and case

I’m looking to upgrade to a garmin for ease of use

Sounds interesting, should I google it? Dare I ask what you are looking for it please?

Depends on budget. If you're just looking for something to get you going, I would suggest looking around for a ProChrono unit - I'd be surprised if you couldn't find one somewhere? Yes, they aren't a Garmin or Labradar, and a bit of a faff to get lined up etc, but they're cheaper than high-end units and do a reasonable job!

Think there’s a Garmin look-a-like on about, for less money than Garmin.

It’s the Athlon, got announced at the Shot Show and went on sale this month I believe. Guess it’ll take a while before some come over to the UK and I’m sure the price will be not that far off the Garmin by the time it’s here.

Athlon Optics Rangecreft Velocity Pro chrono - look to be about $350 street price, so hopefully about the same when they come over here, which should make them cheaper than the Garmin and Labradar LX.

Regards

I wonder who makes it and where. Nine times out of ten good value electrical / electronic products come from the PRC or other Asian country. (A quick Google says all Athlon Optics products originate in the PRC or Japan.)

If so, anything that gets here via the US is going to be clobbered by the Trump tariffs and all current $ prices will soon be void! On the other hand, Athlon is a registered Australian company and US tariffs could well kill US demand and provide us with better availability and prices through direct imports from Oz. (Australia 'only' attracts a 10% tariff, but what will the Trump administration do with such products where the originating factories are in the PRC?)

Just one more symptom of the massive uncertainty created by the 'new order' originating in the White House.

Garmin is a Kansas based company and I think we get its chronographs from the USA. The devices are US designed but made in Taiwan which at present is slated for a 32% tariff on the White House sh*tlist. So, anybody looking for one might want to buy from anything already in stock.

*Interesting times* as they say! :-|
