CIC UKTEB - Non medal standard fee

Personally I’m well passed having heads measured, but I’ve always been a firm supporter of the CIC, always sending clients their away instead of the cheap copy of BASC.

Charging for a non medal, that’s just a rip off!

Shame on the CIC, I’ll now be telling my clients not to bother.

There an organization in the preservation of our game species and the documentation of trophies over the years nothing is inherently free the fact they've been able too surport themselves this many years without payment is surprising

Something tells me there's been an up tick in recent years of people fetching effectively there lifelong collections of roe trophies with them too be messured when 90% won't make medal and effectively wasting valuable time at shows that would otherwise be one of there main incomes.

You can't really blame someone for deciding there done with giving handouts and people taking the nick out of them.

If a CIC UKTEB Trophy Judge is presented with a head of any species that they believe is unlikely to reach medal standard, they will advise the client before a full measurement is carried out. This initial opinion is based on a visual inspection and, where appropriate, the weight of the head may be taken for species where weight forms part of the scoring. As the full CIC measurement has not yet been completed, this assessment should be regarded as guidance only. For some species, particularly Red and Fallow deer, accurately judging medal potential by eye alone can be difficult.

The client may then decide whether they wish to proceed with a full official measurement, understanding that a fee will apply if the trophy does not reach medal standard.

The charges are as follows:

CWD and Carnivore……….. £10

Muntjac, Boar and Sika…….£15

Roe………………………...…£20

Red and Fallow……………...£30

I can fully understand why, especially if you've seen a Fallow or Red being scored, it takes a long time.

That said, unfortunately I think it will put some people off getting heads scored.
