Classic caliber with a twist

Finished article wouldn't be my cup of tea but compliments on the craftsmanship. Very fine job and attention to detail.

Keep posting, your threads are some of the nost enjoyable on the site.

Thank you for the compliment, much appreciated

I have a soft spot for the older cartridges in a cutting edge platform. I’d like to see what Herr Masuer thought of his cartridge now in a fast twist, long throated barrel with modern propellants and ultra high BC bullets, for which the 7’s are now famed for. Fantastic and a lovely rifle!

I really like it. I’m sure the edwardians would have used whatever light material was available back when this calibre was new. But wood was the only option so rifles were wood and blued steel, and climbing into a high seat would be easy with the folding stock.

Brave of the customer to specify something fairly unorthodox but it works for me and I am at the poncy, aesthete end of the scale.

It doesn’t look too military like many chassis rifles. I wonder what a folding stock carbon stutzen would look like…

Is it classed as a Rem clone and if so does the MDT HTN 26 stock need any sort of bedding or is a straight drop in on a bedding block please ?

It was a straight drop in

Though better for proper interface to be bedded - the chassis type stocks are all a compromise - pretty rigid, but only where they touch and can in some cases still cause movement on the action when torqued down

I have a Contender with a 6.5JDJ and I fitted a folding Choate stock a few months ago, it shot all over the place till I found that the pivot bolt had some play in the hole so at ignition the thing jumped around a bit.
