Come on November!

So after crow shooting and foxing until gone midnight and then out before light for more crows I was a touch tired this afternoon.
Mrs has COVID and was even less patient with my grumpy moaning so told me to go out!

So I grabbed my Winchester and went to my fallow deer ground. When there I sat down comfy against an oak, drank coffee and fell asleep! Rudely awakened periodically by my dog wanting to chase the squirrels feeding on the maize stubble behind us.
Eventually after a couple of hours it started to rain.

About the same time as the rain starting the squirrels and pheasants were going nuts about something and I thought a fox was about so I stalked the treeline.

Cresting a rise I spotted a fallow on the stubble feeding on maize cobs. Boy they can wolf it down too!
Turned out to be a doe.
It was interesting in that on the rise was a deer run into the field that had fresh droppings, now though, I knew why! She had come out just fifty yards up from me as I snoozed!

Anyway I filmed her and just enjoyed the moment. At one point she was under 20yards away and I could of had an easy time of it if it was November!
Tell you one thing, for twenty minutes I was no longer tired and my aching bones magically disappeared!

Another nice touch was the male goshawk that thundered out of the oak I was under and flew out over the doe! Wish I had gotten that on the phone and on leaving the female flew out of another oak not far away. I bet they are still feeding their two youngsters in this valley.

Happy times and wish me luck for November.IMG_20231022_173923.webp

Is your wife ill also?
Mines as tough as a new hob nail and is already on the mend. I've had the usual level of chastisements today so I know she is getting better 👍🏻
