Compatibility between Blaser R8 and R93 Saddle Mount Base…

Hi,

I could do with some advice on whether a Blaser R8 Saddle Mount Base is compatible with a R93 LRS 2 and R93 30mm Rings?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, I missed the LRS, so I'm not certain. Do they look the same hole pattern
Thank you for your reply. I think the R93 LRS has the same pattern as the R93.

If they are identical; why do shops list R8 and R93 Saddle Mount Bases as separate entities? …makes it somewhat confusing.

I use the same mounts for both my R93 and my R8, you may possibly need to adjust the screw tension if fitting on different barrels, I’ve been lucky to not need to change between multiple barrels

Thank you for the info, I will be doing the same re barrels. Do you know whether the R93 Rings will fit an R8 base?

There are no R93 or R8 specific rings. There are Gen 1 and Gen 2 mounts and rings though. The Gen 1 rings are true 1/2 split rings and are mounted to the base rail using M4 screws. Gen 2 rings are the 3/4 split type. They use M5 screws. The protruding pivot which fits into the recess of the rail is the same on both (rings and base rails). Gen 1 and 2 rails and rings can be mixed. However, the 4mm screw holes on the older base rails need to opened up to 5mm if you want to fit Gen 2 rings on them. But this is a matter of seconds and technically uncritical as the pivots/recesses are responsible for the alignment, not the screws.

BTW, you are not limited to Blaser Rings. Mauser M03, Contessa, Tier One, Spuhr, Henneberger, Recknagel and other rings will also fit. They all have the 8mm wide base pivot.

Thank you for your reply. It is very comprehensive. I now understand how the saddle mounts function with the Blaser ring types, and the options open to me. I really appreciate your help on this.

I have several Makuick saddle mounts and they work really well, Available from optics trade, think they are around £280 ish last time I looked 👍
