Condor thoughts?

They told me when I questioned all the issues,

A part has been found to be coming loose during shipping, this did not show up under normal testing (take that however you like) and the first batch supposedly were all susceptible to this failure and they were working through getting them back and a fix for that, possibly that was the new part ?

It sounds as if they have two issues, this broken part and the battery life been poor.

So reading between the lines here, some will need to go back for mechanical repair, and some (possibly all by sounds of it) need a software update to sort the battery life/rf/battery bar issues 🤷

This is how I have it.
 
Mine was to the touch warm, that's a lot of energy being consumed to do that so yes, it's a short circuit as you can't turn on enough features to cause that kind of energy drain.
 
Just discussed the performance with OPW and the battery life I'm getting is roughly what they'd expect. Whilst I can get nearly 4hrs off one cell, my calcs suggest I will have to swap every 2.25hrs if I want to use the laser. On balance, I have decided I can live with this because the image quality is just so good. 30secs to fumble in a pocket and change a battery isn't too bad. It's about 60/40 in terms of LRF useability off each cell, ie for 40% of the time you'll still have a great picture but no LRF unless you put a fresh battery in it.

I can just about live with the shorter battery life, and I find im only using the LRF when I close in to take a shot anyway. Its the freezing and rebooting that drives me mad. At the moment it seems like there isnt a solid fix, so I'm tempted to sit on it and keep using until HIK work out the issues and people start reporting all sorted. The image quality is amazing through and I havent even turned on the Image Pro yet....
 
I think that needs taking with a spade full of salt. So shipping subjects the spotter to stress and forces that make a component fail. If so they need to change their shipper and packaging and redesign the part and or its fixing.
How come it didnt happen to pre launch field tested models?
Makes me wonder as to what testing they actually do.
It's not as if it's an uncommon fault.
If Hik aren't careful their reputation may go the same way as ATN!.

Its gone in my opinion , so many units faulty and no straight answers ! My unit been nearly 3 weeks away for a 24 hr turn around fix , if it wasnt for a loan spotter a refund and buy another pulsar would be my choice . Bad customer service Hik !
 
Latest update on my unit from Optics Warehouse is that 'this is a hardware issue affecting a small number of units - they are not being repaired they are being straight swapped'

Mine is being collected next week and I hope for a quick turnaround and a unit that works properly!

Small number of units? So how did i got two faulty ones from two different retailers, from supposedly new checked and working batch?

A large number of units in my opinion , damage limitation as only bad press so far for hik**** condor ! Firm ware hard ware loose screws parts working loose in transit , as any one had a honest answer off supplier or only waffle not to give refunds and be left with second hand not fit for purpose units !! Getting miffed with Hik and main supplier .

I think the true is, not even HikMicro knows what is wrong with the Condors.
One of the retailer i bought one wouldn't even exchange it, they refunded me straight away.
The retailers are fed up as well with the returns, and is not their fault.
 
Does anyone know if folks with the falcon are having the same issue? Looked through that and was very impressed with the image. I probably don't strictly need the lrf as all my shots are are less than 250 yards, especially in the dark.
 
Falcon is exactly same internals specs as the condor.

I’ve been back to my old pulsar for the last week or so and it’s such a nice feeling knowing the battery will last three or more stalks and not worry if I forget to click it onto standybye.

As for hik, they have me a pair of gloves FOC when I went to a demo evening, the stitching has all come apart and more like mittens now, only worn 4 times for an hour or so🤣 if they can’t even sew a pair of gloves together, what hope is there for the electronics ………….
 
My condor is fine, everything works as it should. Battery life is around 3hrs but I have 3 batteries as standard so that does me. They say the next firmware release will give even more battery life so that's a bonus.

No issues with rangefinder or anything else. No issues with hardware and the app works very well.

Maybe I got lucky?

Finally, a good one
 
My pair of Hik gloves came unstiched the first time I wore them playing tennis! Fortunately I can sew so repaired them one evening.!
I wonder if I can get another pair next week..!

What a bug*er… took my replacement unit out last night and the screen decided to freeze when lifting up my eye. A sort of blurred diagonal image across the screen. Had to switch it off and on to clear. Very annoying as it happened about 20 times!
I'll be sending this one back too. Battery life was going well though.
 
My falco fq 35 and my mates fq50 we have had no issues at all one of the best images I’ve seen in a thermal one is 10 months old and the other 14 months old
Never heard of any falcon with issues
