Cooler Bag

anything like this will only work if you can cool the carcass down first with some air and a chiller
otherwise i feel they work against you

the thermal mass of warm meat outstrips the cooling capacity of a couple of ice filled bottles you packed when you set off

I mean if you are staying in scotland and want to bring your quartered beast back once it's been in the chiller overnight then it's perfect

Does anyone have any experience of these types of marine cooler bag for transport of roe/muntjac carcasses in warm weather?

Seems a versatile, low cost option compared to the large chest style cool boxes.

With fish they will cool a lot quicker than a deer as they take ages to cool so if you trap that heat (space blanket) put around people to keep the heat in then I feel it would work against you.
I have seen pigeons turn very quickly if there are too many in a tray.

Sorry, should have been more specific. For transport of cooled carcasses from on-site chiller at stalking ground to chiller at home. Thought they may help address some of the continuation of the cold chain queries that people are getting when applying for food business status.

for that then it makes a lot of sense - easier to store between uses and more likely to fit around whatever else is in your vehicle and likely about as effective as a coolbox

will be harder to clean out than a solid coolbox though as they are never as waterpoof as they say and get grubby inside

They look a great idea to be fair - I have the same issue, larder chilled carcass and a long drive home. I have a large box and plenty of ice blocks but this might just make things a little easier.

I've used a sleeping bag filled with ice blocks ," insulation " from external heat whilst trapping the cold.
So a similar idea to the cool bag .but has brought fallow from Sussex and Mutton from Wales no dramas 6 to 7 hour journeys.
If its the heatwave worry line the sleeping bag with a mylar survival blanket atb
