Cooper Arms Pic Rail Conversion - Model 21

Hi, does anyone know where to buy a Pic Rail that fits the Cooper Model 21 please? My scope has a 56mm objective and is just touching the barrel so needs raising, but I’ve not decided which route to go down with it yet.

Just wondered if there’s a tried and tested rail that will work so I can use other rings I have and make it a bit more versatile.

Apparently (M888/842M Cooper 21, 36, 38, & 57, Matte) but why not install a set of conventional bases & rings of the correct height?

Warne and Tally are the only companies that I am aware of that made bases for Cooper rifles.

My Cooper rifles have Warne bases and Burris Signature Zee rings with the polymer inserts.

Burris Signature Zee rings come in different heights and are available for 1" and 30mm scope tubes.

I might even end up putting a more suitable mag scope on that fits the existing rings. There’s so much information to get your head around at first and obviously the mounts are so important to give you confidence that your scope doesn’t move and your bullets are going where you’re aiming.

From memory the M21 is a bolt action single shot, is that correct?

What cartridge is it chambered in and does it have a wooden or synthetic stock?

Bolt action single shot, correct. It’s .223 and has a wooden stock.
I’ve only had it since Sunday. I’ve not even put a round through it yet, I just ran into problem after problem last night because I’m still very naive with the technical side of it all.

Well, you could have a slot milled in the barrel to accommodate the recalcitrant scope bell as I did with my K250 but any higher rings of the Redfield pattern will do the job.

That said, if you also want to mount the digital scope you will most certainly need to move to a rail system to achieve a;- correct ring spacing and b;- eye relief positioning.

Yeah, I think I’m going to go down the rail route and kill 2 birds with one stone. I don’t really want to touch the barrel because it’ll be a stumbling block if I decide to sell it on in the future.

Those look like Leupold mounts and bases?

Higher options should be available. You can also get offset front mounts which typically offset backwards, but I see no reason why you couldn't run it the opposite way around for you to use the digital optic.

Yeah good point. I could try removing the tape. It came with it on but never even considered removing it to see if it clears. I doubt it would create enough of a gap though. I think I read it needs a min gap of 1/8”.

If you can get a fag paper between bell & barrel that's good enough but use of a flip-up lens cover will be a challenge.

Luckily it’s not a flip up lens so maybe, just maybe it could be a get out of jail. Only one way to find out…
