I have two and one is used for literally everything and the other is a great beating dog that passes nothing. They are very loyal and strong willed and sometimes testing but after three years or so something just clicks and they shape up. 3-4 years being the puppy period and if you are looking for a pup my dog is due to sire two litters this month or so and those that know him rate him very highly. My mate has just got one for £750 I don't no if that is around average or not but he was more than happy to pay it,I paid that for my working goldie pups and would not hesitate to pay more for the right puppies

Oi, Limulus. I had a Brittany. She would work all day until she fell over through exhaustion and could kick the arse off of any ESS or Lab. She hunted, pointed superbly and always retrieved even in water anything upto a goose in size. They are a fantastic un-KC molested breed. I'll take that box of frogs any day.

yep best dog i ever had was a mongrel, although my lab is now shaping up to be far more versatile

Yes the Kc have got a lot to answer for but just look at the state of field trial spaniels. Who's fault is it that they have degenerated to such pathetic excuses for spaniels.

What a stupid sweeping statement - this is my FTCH - I also made his mother up to FTCH and 2 of his sons in my kennels are currently Open winning dogs.
We don't all like little white grass spaniels.
