Im suprised how many of you even watched it, KC show dogs bare no resemblance to working dogs
But the KC show people have all the answers
Its fairly easy to be banned from breed forums for stating facts that are different from the nurotic female moderators / show enthusiasts own back slapping beliefs.
Because they have showed dogs for 25 years they know more than anyone who has worked them for the same period
Each to there own, live and let live.

My vote was with the fox terrier... Cracking looking wee dog.
And yes, I agree with the above comments about the KC.

Why such a fuss its a beauty show. Very few breeds still cross the divide. I used to watch miss world but I never for one minute expected to see her with three kids at the local nursery at 8 in the morning.

The gun dog class was the only one I watched, wish I hadn't bothered, even the Weimaraner & Visla seemed to be lacking muscle definition. As for the thing that won it, would love to see that on the beating line up.

I am not into showing dogs. However the American cocker were bred for woodcock and the poodle was bred as a working dog. Poodles were in fact trimmed as seen in the show ring as this protected and kept warm their vital organs.read an article recently that was saying that the working strains in particular labs have now issues with things such as build etc. it sited the tail of labs was originally otter like for work in the water and some working breeds have not got the stamina in water as their tails are too fine. Like others have said it's not for me but everyone to their own

& folk still line up bto pay over the odds for a bit of paper in red ink expecting a working dog miracle
That can often end up riddled with a arthritis or summit else before its 3yrs old.

I applaud those that pick a sire & a dasm on pure ability or character to get summit for honest days shooting n not interested in paperwork
Likes of some sprockers for example
