Cuba, holiday destination. Any thoughts?

Dollars ! Cuban's like being tipped. If you decide to tip anyone then the smallest note in Euros is a 5. The smallest dollar note is a 1. Yes, O.K. I am tight, but Dollars every time.

went there in 2018, loved Havana even if it did have a Ghaza vibe (Hurricane damage ) its a cheap holiday and the smell of unburnt hydrocarbons took me back to the 70s! there is crime but it is mainly kept away from the tourists as the locals know better than to rock the boat.
Varedero is a great beach holiday and there are lots of daytrips to be taken, although a lot of them involve a long day, I would certainly go back

Been I think 4 times, Caya-Coco is awesome, white sand beaches
Do the tours to the mainland, friendly people and take advantage of a meal at someones house, did that and ate more lobster than I likely should have
The beach on the southern side are black sand, which makes walking on the beach brutal due to the heat
We tipped in both US and their convertible pesos (think that's what they are called) and you can exchange at the airport or any of the resorts
Looking forward to going back
