Custom Hunting Carbon Fibre Tripod?

Just had an email from Custom Hunting advertising their new shop and saw they sell a carbon fibre tripod at £250 with an option of clamps and mounts. Anyone had any experience of these?

I've been wondering about a tripod for rabbit/rat but they always seem crazy money Even just a hog saddle can be in the hundreds and don't make any sense for me, given the amount of that sort of shooting I do. These still aren't exactly cheap but are in the range of what I might save up for. I know a lot of the expense is in a decent ball head and the clamps on the legs but curious as the rest of their stuff seems well made and sensibly priced (no I'm not affiliated with them, just based on a couple of small things I bought).

PS, I did search on forums to check there wasn't already a thread. Apologies if I missed one that's already running.

the tripods themselves are not that expensive
We sell a 76" max height carbon fibre tripod for £175 (59" is not high enough unless you are 4' 11" high!!)
The clamp takes an Arca fitment which can be fixed to the gun or any aftermarket clamp system like the one shown can be fitted (camera fittings are Arca but sell for pence not the bonkers prices people ask for rifle Arca rails!)

I have used one with PCP on rats and they work extremely well

Thanks for the reply. Interesting to know.

I'd pretty much given up on the idea of tripods because I know people who've gone down the route of kit that's well in excess of £500. Fine for them as they do it for a living but that was way too much for the amount I'd use it. I'm mainly stalking and using sticks / bipod but I could see a real benefit for the HMR or 22 on rats and rabbits where I'm stood in one place scanning multiple spots.

Maybe they are back on the wishlist!

All the very best, Paul.

I have been using an Innorel RT90C for over 2 years now, I do a lot of pest control where i'm stood waiting for Fox , rabbits , rats etc, It's the best value one I've found. It has a 40kg payload and I bought the ND52 ball head which has a 25kg payload, so good enough for any of my rifles, I chose to fit a Arca plate to each rifle I use, some of you might prefer the clamp, i have a Xmount clamp which is one of the better made clamps with a hefty price tag to match, but for me it still to wobbly for long distance shots, but with the Arca plate installed on the Rifle, you can put the cross hairs on something and lock the handle and it stay there, so it's nice and steady. its not a lightweight setup but weighs about 6kg all in, so Im happy carrying that, I walked 8 miles one evening with it, but that's not an everyday thing.

The only gripe i had was the lock up control on the ball head was too close to the tripod base to get your hands around it properly but I turned up a base/pillar and extended it by 40mm and used a piece 3/8 20 threaded bar to extend the base. works a treat, it's the first thing that goes in truck when I go out now.
