CZ 550

seen a new old stock CZ 550 in 243 America for a great price I’m very tempted in buying it .
Ask if I could have a look it’s in a gun shop noticed the receiver is tapped for basses always led to believe the 550 had dove tails mount.
What bases are available is the an older version or newer model.
Asking price is £450 brand new and I like the feel of it although it’s a bit heavy has a 24" barrel that I like.

Thanks definitely worth considering then as Remington basses easily sourced.

I believe also has a set trigger out of curiosity has yours got the set trigger if so how do you find it ?
More I think about the more am leaning towards buying

Maybe a bit out of fashion but CZ make a very good rifle and a steal at that price.
The set triggers are excellent BTW.

My 7 x 64 (other inferior calibres are available ) is a 550. It shoots far better than I do and just works. The set trigger is "set" by pushing it farward when the rifle is cocked. The release is very light then.

Buy it mate. You won’t regret it. The set triggers are superb on both of mine.

My 550 is the Scandinavia, has the set trigger also. One of the best buys to date.

Haven't owned one myself but understand from reading elsewhere that they changed from milled dovetails to drilled and tapped receivers on later models.

I’ve done some research and the model in question is CZ 550 Minnesota.

Remington bases and especially other rifles set up for them are a PITA.

Make sure whether you need a pair of Rem bases, or two front ones. And then check whether they actually line up, or need bedding in order to not stress / damage the scope tube. If the setup really conforms to Rem footprint, I'd get one piece rail and bed it.

The set triggers are ok but I converted mine to a single stage and it's better for it. I don't have to set it anymore which can be a big deal when an animal is in front of you and you only have seconds.

Apparently the Minnesota and Scandinavia models are the only models without dovetails

My first deer rifle was a CZ550 in 6.5x55, I still have it and it’s a cracking rifle.
