I just picked up a new a 22lr and 6 boxes of different ammo and ar 30m nothing shoots to my satisfaction.

Ofcourse il keep trying ammo, but are there other things to look out for? its my first 22lr and my centrefires will outshoot this with literally any ammo, even my AK.

After purchase i cleaned it, not obsessively but enough to not have dirty patches come out.

i shot a whole box to refoul as recomended by the gunshop.

Best iam getting is 5cm wide 10cm tall groups at 30m divided in 3 distinct subgroups above one another.
 
Sounds like somethings moving stock or scope. I had some issues with my .22 452 and I took the stock off and enlarged the barrel channel, I also cleaned out the silencer that was full of crud (like biscuit) and it shoots pretty ok 1” probably at 60m depending on ammo (likes eley and rws best)
 
That is truly unusual

Crown?
Barrel corrosion?
Throat wear or crud build up on face of chamber or bolt?

I expect sub 2” at 100m for most shots

Though mine has it’s peculiar traits and ‘Monday morning blues’

Mine is partially accurate with Gecco semi auto 40 grain

I figured that was unusual. Supressor i also cleaned, barrel to naked eye looks good and judging from the condition otherwise it wasnt a hunting gun, it lools factory fresh otherwise. Over here 22lr is most commonly a target sport gun.

The stock does seem to contact the barrel a bit. il try sanding a little. Would epoxy bedding be good on a rimfire?
 
If the stock is touching that’ll likely be the issue - I would just open it up a little using sandpaper wrapped around a socket of a suitable size, check that the barrel is free floating, and then resell stock and refit screws. Export bedding should not be a necessity
 
It is not always the scope or the way in which the scope is mounted to the action but generally speaking, this is what it tends to be.

Sure, go ahead and open up the barrel channel a bit. It is easy to do and will not harm but it sounds like you checked without the moderator and have tried tons of different ammo. The barrel sounds in good nick and if there is no damage to the crown, then even crap ammo should do much better than you are seeing at only 30 metres.

Is the scope known to be good? What mounts are you using? Is there any weird contact points between the bottom of the mounts and the top of the action? Give everything a shake. Can you hear any rattles. Pull on the scope, does it move even slightly.

Best of luck. These issues can be annoying but there are not many .22LR's out there

I would totally agree with everything that you have said except perhaps the last bit "and don't ever clean the barrel".
Over the last couple of weeks I had noticed that my CZ452 wasn't shooting the excellent tight groups that it had always done. I started to wonder if I had done the impossible and if wear was starting to affect accuracy. I stripped it, gave it a good clean then fired a few fouling groups and joy of joy it's back as good as ever.
 
Il try a different scope tomorrow. Its a piece of faeces but iam out of Zeiss glass. Just have some victoptic stuff left meant for airsoft, i normally use them on recreational crossbows.

The seller says that this rifle was sold as a set back in the day, it has a very light supressor with what feels like plastic baffles and a tasco pronghorn 4x36. He used a custom made scope for competitions he said and shot matches at 100m.

If i take him at his word, the rifle shot match accurate until the original scope went back on.
 
I assume you’re not doing anything dumb like having your thumb over the barrel or resting on a hard surface or on the barrel? Scope and mount change sounds like a sensible start point

I didnt start yesterday 😂 i can pin a hare in the head at 250 meter with my 222. I think given the extremity of the issue it has to be mechanical. Hopefully just scope or mount

Worth asking, I’ve seen plenty of dumb things 😂 it’s frustrating when things like this happen, hopefully you’ll get to the bottom of it. A lot cheaper than a similar problem with a centrefire
