D day landings.

I'm probably gonna get pelters for this...

I know I'm not the most patriotic & definitely no fan of armed forces. But even I find posts like that somewhat disrespectful, showing a lack of class.
I completely agree with you.
Time & a place. Today we should all just be grateful for the defeat of fascism, and not looking to use it for modern day point scoring.

Posts like the above are the right wing version of virtue signalling!!
Not even that.

Hmmm.
I have been fortunate enough to have visited the battlefields of The Great War and The Second World War on many occasions. To walk the fields where our forebears fought and died on those many battlefields is both sobering and moving in the extreme. To then visit the many beautifully maintained Commonwealth War Graves cemeteries be it at Omaha or The Somme and walk among the lads from so many nations who died for their, and generations to follow’s freedom, defies description. The guys who jumped from landing craft at Arromanche or climbed out of the trenches at Thiepval 28 years beforehand had one thing in common - they were united in their determination to fight tyranny - in whatever form. Those who chose to ignore their sacrifice would do well to reflect - they did truly give their tomorrows for our todays.
Bless them all.

And now we're reduced to this:
Whatever Tim, just be thankful to those lads that hit the beaches and gave you and I the right to splurge on here.😀
Other thoughts, the BBC and political implants can be dangerous. Maybe.neutrality initially would have avoided Dunkirk and given us time to prepare bigger services, planes etc and then whack him harder and quicker whilst he was occupied in the East so that we didn't suffer those initial losses. Who knows?
