Daihatsu Fourtrak - Can you help me?

If you have a Daihatsu Fourtrak, would you please spare a minute or two to help me out?

What I need:
I just need a photograph posting on here showing how the handbrake cables are routed above the rear diff on your truck. - see my photo below.

The problem:
I've had the rear crossmember replaced on my truck, a 1994 Daihatsu Fourtrak, Fieldman.
The original crossmember is a round bent tube, rather than the box section style of the replacement.

When the garage installed the replacement, they have trapped the cables between the crossmember and the body. See photo attached.

I am concerned that the vibration will wear through the plastic outer and lead to the cables becoming seized.
I think they should be routed below the crossmember.
I discussed it with the garage and they said “that’s how they were before they started”.

So I just need some kind sole to take a look at their Fourtrak, take a photo and send it to me so I can see if that is right or not.

Thanking you in advance.

M.

I don't think the radius angle on the cables is correct , with a tube the radius on the cable would not be as much , so the square section has exaggerated this radius which would cause the cable jam and fail ,
Take it to a test station and get a report .

I’ll see if I can get a picture underneath ours tomorrow. It’s a seven seater but probably the same. I’ve also got a workshop/parts manual on cd somewhere if I can find it.

Thanks. I appreciate it.

Not much help after all I’m afraid. Looks like the seven seater doesn’t have that cross member. I think the wheelbase is a bit longer. I found the cd but it is specific to the model.
If it’s working ok can you protect the cables from chaffing? If there was room you could try splitting some garden hose, fitting it around them and securing with cable ties.

The angle of the cables coming out of the support bracket looks to tight. I would get them to route them under the new crossmember, get them to tie them under the new box section with insulated P clips.
Just make sure that when the axle moves up (loaded up) it doesn't trap the cables.

Ours is a TDX with a longer wheelbase which explains why the crossmember is that bit further back but the cables do run underneath. The owners club is a good shout. That’s were I got my manual from when I was having problems with the 4wd.
