Decent boar last night

Went out last night to see what’s about as it’s been a little quiet on the boar for me since early Feb.

Under an hours drive later at about 9pm I get into the highseat and just 15 mins in this big old boy presents himself 110m away.

After a good solid headshot, an epic drag and recovery later worthy of a strongman contest, an hour later he’s in the chiller.

He’s 115kg my biggest so far this year so very I’m a happy chap, cracked open a well earned beer after

Thanks @Tim.243 unfortunately no picture of the neck, but I know my 4 1/2 inch blade barely made it through the fat!

Nice boar. These day I wouldn’t even attempt to drag a boar of that size. The Honda quad is a great help.

Good shout. I’ll be investing in a winch for next season no doubt about it.

I've got a front and back winch on my Honda and am thinking about a Heck-Pack for next season. A big boar in a Heck - Pack would need a bit of counter balancing as on my mates quad.

Shot him in the Forest of Dean mate. He’ll be going to a butchers but he lardered in a little over 90kg

it’s usually worse but I test my knife edges on the back of that hand!

Rule of thumb that I hear here is 30% of the gralloched weight.

V.nice. I walk in the Forest most weeks - from Mitcheldean. Lots of pig damage in most locations. I read they had reduced the numbers significantly but I’m not sure how they could know, with beasts like that one turning up!
