Decision made- The new Pup

Well all, I am sure you can all remember me posting a previous thread "Cant decide"(on deer tracking breed), well I now have. On the 8th January myself and the OH travelled from Ireland to Stranaer to collect a Labrador bitch from another SD member known as Stringer.
We did previously see the pups and where very happy with the pedigree etc and the breeder himself, whom definately knows a thing or two about working dogs and whelping bitches. We settled on the bitch and on collection we were more than happy with our choice. :-D
Thanks to Stringers family she is well socialised and is full of beans and easy to toilet train which is great!!
She is settling in well however the OH has her spoilt, but as she assures me its ok as she is only a pup!!
We know have her near two weeks and everything is going well, she has her 2nd vacc and we are now on the road for taking her out and about into the fields. No travel sickness which is a bonus at this young age, as she is well use to life in the car.
I have posted a few pic's to let you's all have a look.
I actually dragged a piece of meat around the wooden floor the other night while she was outside. She got the scent in seconds and followed the trail until the end so i am delighted, after all she is only 10weeks.
Called her Dearg (Irish for red)
Hope you's enjoy the few pic's,
ATB Gentleman Jim.
P.s Stringer once again thanks a million for everything ;)

Nice pups watch your kitchen cuboard doors when mine was a pup he had a feast on them. He must have been lacking in vitimins. lol

Hi Jim
Great choice of dog, best of luck training it. Have attached a couple of pictures of my GWP for you he was seven months old when they were taken.
sinbad:-D

Hi Jim,

nice looking pup, you wont go far wrong with a lab, good all rounder, we have two now 18 mounths old both tracking 24hr old trails now and one now go's out picking up with the BH, the other wont even look at live game but she is the better tracker !

good luck with your training.

Anthony

nice looking pup jim,the name intrests me.i met an irish lad in scotland in the summer with a cocker called "roo doo" thats how its said although im not sure of the spelling,he told me roo was irish for red and doo was black the colours of his dog.is there different words within the language,is it a galic thing

hi longhair,
it must have been RUA/ DUBH which means red/black.there is a slight difference in the irish language depending on the area in which you come from, for example galway irish is different from donegal irish but not far out!
DEARG mean red as a general colour. and RUA is used to describe red hair! it's very complicated :???: lol

well sinbad, your GWP is a smasher! the size of him for seven months! may he do you proud mate:thumb:
i hope it's true what they say about labs been born half trained lol
Jim

well Anthony thanks for your comment! i must say the lads off here helped me make my mind up on getting a lab!
i have to say im delighted i went for a lab, she is very good, very easy going!and misses nothing! i'd say your delighted with them been able to track 24hr old trails! thats what i hope to get my lab to achieve.
i'll keep everyone posted on here training
Jim

Glad to hear your pleased with her. I have to admit this this was probably one the nicest litters I have ever bred (obviously only time will tell how they turn out). Such a shame that most people looking for a gundog wont part with the reddy's for a well bred pup from health checked parents.
