Deer caliber rifle with the least kick?

Surely the recoil will be the same whether or not the 100gr 2810fps bullet is launched by 6mmBR or .243Win?

Leastways, that's what Isaac reckoned.

Hi XD

That's fair enough, i take your point and am happy to be corrected. However any 6BR I have shot has seemed to have less recoil than a .243. A little like i find a .308 seems to recoil more than a 30-06 with the same weight bullet.
Maybe it's a psychological thing?
Perhaps others with more experience of 6br and 243 than me will chip in.

Yorkie.

It's my own land a 14 year old blood thirsty son who is shooting like a demon and even better still I've good access to extract with vehicle or quod. Until the pain started properly it didn't hurt firing the rifle and I have had several Fallow already this season with wonderboys help but it has just got too much. The moderators I use are custom built and are awesome. My son now says there is more kick on his shotgun than the .270
I'm tempted if the pain doesn't improve not to take a rifle and purely gillie him into his first Red stag if his mother gives me permission to leave the house. At the end of the day it will be a fantastic memory for his future stalking. Trying Rekki treatment on Friday if it works I'll fill her freezer with venison.

Evening all,
Well quite a lot has changed since my last post.
My son who is still 14 finally got his FAC and was given an open ticket too as I shoot all over the country and he will be with me. (proud Daddy)
I then spent most of the season mentoring him as my neck was really bad and I was struggling with any feeling in my arm. It was a fantastic time to be out with him and see his all round skills improve.
One consultant told me I was suffering from chronic silent migraines and I had something wrong with my arm so I was told to come off all caffeine products and all pain killers. That made life interesting. I was also sent for a MRI and EMG tests. EMG tests revealed chronic nerve damage in my right arm. MRI revealed my neck was pretty messed up so surgery was needed. I was allowed painkillers again yippee and surgery would cost 10k plus and I could have it done the next week or wait 8/10 week on the NHS!!!!!!
NHS here we come!!!
In between this my son became one of the youngest if not the youngest ever to pass his DSC 1 which made me a very very proud daddy.
(His stalking and gralloching skills are being done by a man way beyond his age and in a way this makes me feel even prouder still than his qualification achievement. That's a seriously strong but proud statement.)
6 months of waiting later a cancellation place came available last week so I finally had neuro surgery on my neck and spine.
I had 2 prolapsed discs in my neck and chronic nerve damage in my arms.
To cure this they had to chisel away bone from the discs to stop the nerve damage, then insert some carbon fibre washers between the vertebrae and then fuse the neck together with metal rods and screws.
I will be out of action for 3 months and it will take a good 12 months before the nerves will be fully recovered if the operation has worked.
I've started the long road of recovery which will be challenging but I can already feel my right hand which is incredible.
God help the deer when wonderboy and I are both fully fit!!!!

Good luck with the recovery, if you are still interested in recoil and keeping it down during your getting back on your feet then the following calculator will give you a good idea of the recoil of given loads:

As others have said rifle fit and weight are crucial factors and, I suspect, this is why people say that different cartridges which are actually producing the same recoil feel different. You can't change the laws of physics as that bloke on Star Trek well understood.
