Yeah used it a couple of times now, quite intuative (although you need to have some basic understanding of population modelling to get the most out of the tool I feel).
In terms of opensource data/free resource I would say its pretty good to be fair!

It’s just a front end for a very basic demographic model.
Having played with it, I think the underlying model is actually too simple - it looks to be nothing more than a text book exponential growth model with a carrying capacity.
It will work well enough for short term projections on small areas with very accurate data (ie. you will need to know for sure what your actual density and fecundity is, with very little margin for error). As soon as your input contains any uncertainty, it’s going to give you some very misleading output.
