My last Defender was a 9 seater, 2 in front, 3 in row behind then 3pairs of two seats opposing each other in the back.
Soon after that I think they outlawed the back opposing seats, possibly because the only had lap belts and the centre seat in the second row had a lap only belt. Newer Defenders had less seats.

We had an earlier series Landy that seated 12.
PPs. In one Defender I had the cubby box between the front seats was replaced by a seat, again with a lap belt.
