Sorry but that's my opinion and I will stick by it. I don't believe in breeding various adaptions of animals to satisfy people who want a specific colour of animal to hunt. White Lions, Black Springbok or Golden Wildebeest makes no difference to me.

This is where Africa and hunting to me begins to become hunting and shooting to order just for the colour of the animal that has been bred for a particular market.

I do support your statement also!!! The 'big chiefs' at PHASA are doing this as a living, why will it be un-ethical if the money is good!!!....The same with SCI i presume....lot of fraud over there...

The whole thing about line breeding for colour variants may be quite repulsive but what the South Africans are doing with springbok is exactly what the Phoenicians around the Med did with fallow deer 3-4 thousand years ago. I'm sure when they started their line breeding they did it for money as well!

We have at least five colours of fallow and the world hasn't collapsed.

I would fully expect they were bred for the excellent quality venison! it is unlikely the Phoenicians bred them purely for sport hunting, which is the issue here.

They were bred for both venison and 'Sacrifices to the Gods' which I'm sure in their day was similar to sport hunting.... I presume they felt that a white fallow would appease the Gods better, like the current breeders in SA are trying to appease foreign trophy hunters. Basically line breeding for both species was because the breeders were looking for some extra gain whether financial or otherwise. Phoenicians were traders and sold their 'domesticated' fallow throughout the Med. I have no doubt that they got more for a colour variant than a common coloured fallow.

I think as long as there is a demand, then outfitters will supply. Its not my cup of tea, but then when i was out in September i shot animals not from their native areas...

I doubt the estates where you shot them had a fallow 'menu' with differing prices per colour. I also doubt that they were produced just to appeal to 'hunters'. It's not really the same thing as what is happening in Africa right now. All IMHO anyway.

I can't see a problem really, its not hurting anyone and if you don't want to do it (as i don't) then just don't do it.
I really don't like football but i don't think it should be banned as it floats so many boats. If shooting a pink striped blesbok floats someones boat all power to their elbo i say.
