Did the 9.3 x 64 roar today?

I have been looking for a bit of meat for the three dogs as my freezer is getting down, yesterday I was going to roll a spikey but as a vanisher he won. Last night not long before dark I saw four deer but wasnt given the right chance at all.
The next best thing was to head off this morning for another crack and it was surprising chilly which makes for far better hunting.

A sambar hind took her very small calf in tow uphill out of a fish bone fern glade and then further uphill into cover that swallowed the pair up. Too quick and too dark to video.
Rambling further on for 3-400 yards and then crossing one creek onto the confluence of two creeks set me up for a sneak upstream through old fallen trees, wattles and bracken fern that was quite damp after the o/n rain. I had only sneaked 100 odd yards and then....Whoo! ....Dog on super alert, just out of the blue, wtf, whats he on about? The fern was high, over 4' and higher.
He was wanting to go forward and I showed him the hand to stop him.
Looking forward and oh so close I saw a shape in the fern ahead, the shape of white fringed ears sticking up among the fronds, that sight had me setting my tripod up. It wasnt so easy to be quiet either with placing the three legs in among the bracken stalks and stones.
I stuffed up obviously as the deer being a wild bastard then sneaked off and stood between two gums a little further on. I had thoughts of a cruet shot as that was all I could see sticking out from the tree but the **** moved again and got in thicker cover from where he was again on full alert, ears radar-ing in every direction. I ranged him then at 53 yards,it looks a lot further when pulling the zoom back though.
I took some video and then whipped the camera off the tripod, bedded the rifle onto it and settled the 9.3 x 64 cross hairs on the velvet spikeys scone telling myself that poi was 1.5 inches high @ 100.
