Diesel Fuel

not according to BMW

I don't need to return them as they are running fine

the 2so in the test isn't clear that it's mineral
but for this bum fight i'll presume, mineral 2 stroke oil = 2SO, reading your linked report shows market diesel + 2SO passed both the HFRR and SLBOCLE and a pass greater than the market diesel on it's own in the Cetane, also at 200:1 it's lower than most in the zinc test. it also had a negligible exhaust emission test, but a +1.
On the injector fouling test they have run the wrong diesel oil mix so the engine running test isn't relevant therefore the conclusion also isn't factual against the market diesel + 2SO mix

So where do BMW say its okay to chuck scooter oil in your tank ? I think I`ll stick to using BP and no extras rather chance your unresearched hopes. :)

supermarket fuel is cheaper because its a mix of regular and bio diesel,it burns hotter which is why people have injector problems.personally only use bp diesel for the extra 50p a tank and piece of mind

I agree with you on this one it is mixed with bio diesel and that's how supermarkets can sell that bit cheaper! my L200 returns poor mpg and runs worse on supermarket fuel that's why I stay clear of it!

All fuel is a certain amount bio, most of all the companies load out the same terminals its just the additives that are injected in just before the fuel is loaded onto the road tanker, i used to drive a tanker for esso and the fuel used to reach the terminal via a pipeline or come in on ships from around the world. Always used to make me laugh when people said red diesel stains your tank, we used to load red diesel then derv regularly and never see any stains.

VW 1.9 Tdi 105 ps - used Tesco standard diesel from new. Always ~700+ miles on a tank. Now 10 yrs old and 165k. Serviced every 18k more or less and drinks 1 litre of oil between services. Touch wood it has never skipped a beat.

I have now done in excess of 250K miles in 2 Zafira 2 DTI's in the last 8 yrs . They have both been run on diesel from either Morrisionsons or Sainsbury. Never had an issue and I keep a record of all the fuel I purchase could work out the exact MPG if need be, but on average its about 10 miles /litre. My original zaffy was more economical than my current, but it was on 195 v's 205 tyres.

In relation to MPG tyres and correct tyre pressures is the key and the best tyres on mine are Goodyear Efficient grip performance, certainly increase MPG v's the other brand leaders and I have tried most of them.

Very occasionally I run a bottle of diesel injector cleaner through a full tank but it doesn't seem to have much effect.

I buy branded and add mineral 2 stroke scooter oil at a percentage of 200:1 (so if I fill up 40lts I add 200ml of oil) I do this to add back the sulphur that has been removed in the last few years, less knocking/smoother acceleration/more mpg
I also do this when I remember - I think it helps! Lot of stuff on the Disco3 forum

Quite a low mileage one then :) my daughters 1999 TDI 110 Hp has done over 250k miles and still does 55mpg , currently clocking >700 miles a week! VW diesels Rock!
