I have a 335, but use the thermal in the Picture in Picture box to get me on to deer, previously spotted with my hand held thermal.
I use the digital channel to view, assess and then (maybe) shoot.
Re foxing, I would think a dedicated thermal would give a better image at longer range.
Yes I do. I’ve found that for precision shooting the max range is under 300, and that’s with the addition of a Ludicrous Lumens Wraith IR torch.
I normally use the Thermal mode for helping to get on the target, then use the Digital mode in Picture in Picture to take the shot. The picture of a Fox cub below was taken using maximum zoom on a high humidity night, so not the best conditions for using night vision. I had to reverse my usual screen setup to get the clearest image. The thermal image is pretty useless
Hi Jelen,
For a minute then I thought you were gonna say 300 yds with thermal only .
I spoke to a chap that s as if he shoots lots of foxes out to 250 yards using only the thermal channel and thought, that’s very good, I might pull the trigger on one now.
But after your report here I think I’ll wait a little longer.
Thanks very much.
Ken.
