Dnt thermnight 635. Has anyone been using one for a while and think it's the dogs baws

Do you think it's a great advantage to have optical day/night vision and thermal in one unit.

Has there been any issues

I'm thinking of getting one and hoping to be able to swap from fac airgun for shooting rabbits and centrefire rifles for deer/foxes

I’ve been using mine for just over a year now & I’m well pleased with it, used for fox & an odd few deer, it’s nice to be able to flip between NV & thermal in different situations which makes picking up quarry a lot easier, especially when the NV is getting white out. If you have an IR shy fox just use the thermal. Simple to use, not to heavy, only down side I find is the battery doesn’t last to long but easy enough to carry a couple in your pocket.

The falcon titan is a similar unit but with better thermal sensor

A few have dnt have had holding zero issues but who knows if that’s mounts or what

Have a look at the falcon on you tube it’s quite impressive just hasn’t made it here yet although optics world have a few in at 1800 a go

I have a v2 and a 635R and think thy are both absolutely brilliant but the 635 really is a fantastic piece of kit and so versatile.

It is on one of my heavy barreled .270s which is the one that gets used at night mostly on the night license.

I've had it for all of this winter and it's been faultless.

I used a digex for 3 winters of night license culling, tried an alpex for a month and thought it was awful and went back to the digex but then bought the tnc635 last year and it definitely facilitates more deer being shot especially having the thermal picture in picture for the second and third shot at night when they move off a little and you want to pick the rest of the herd up quickly. Or that muntjac up close where the IR bounces off one microscopic twig and whites out....then the thermal PIP is really useful too, to locate it...

That was the reason I started researching it too, with the alpex it’s fine for the first shot , after that you had to go back to thermal to locate and then back to scope

Rinse repeat

The rumours are hik are bringing out a multi spectral just directly in the same ish price bracket but tube style …

So I may wait for that

Had one for about a year - must admit I love it.

I have it mounted on the Pard Innomount so is interchangeable with my Zeiss HT glass depending on where I am going.

It’s on my 6.5CM and used for woodland fallow and muntjac in semi dark legal hours - it’s only zeroed at 50 yards.

PIP multispectral is very useful - so many times I have been able to see an animal clearly in the thermal image to then flick to digital for the shot, only to find a ton of stickage in the way.

Had no problems with it - only gripe is the auto shot recording doesn’t trigger every time.

21700 battery lasts for ages.

How far would you safely shoot at a deer with on the thermal

Always use digital to shoot, but my furthest with it is about 90m on fallow. Would have been comfortable using either.

Has LRF ballistics if needed.

Have to say the base 1.5 mag is epic for the woods - maybe not so grand on open ground.

Can I ask what batteries your using please, my don’t seem to last very long at all. Cheers

I have one and love it. I bought it to replace an alpex for night licence stuff but in reality it has become my go to rifle for everything. I have shot alot of deer with it this season day and night, thermal amd digital. Think the longest shot was 280 yards. I never managed to work out the ballistic calculator properly but I use the rangefinder alot. The bad bits are that, although its same spec, the thermal isnt as good as my condor spotter and I find it massively annoying that the auto recording only works when it feels like it.

In use the Thermnight 635r on my 7mm-08 and love it. Such a useful scope. I rarely, if ever, shoot using the thermal, but use it to get on target quickly. I use a thermal spotter to locate, then with thermal/digital PIP you pick up the target very quickly, say compared to a digital only at night foxing. For that reason, I'd probably go for the 335r if I were to buy again and save a good chunk of cash.
I also have the V2 and 2 original Zulus scopes.
All very simple to use and had no issues with any of them.

Not sure about your Thermnight but my V2 had the same not auto recording issue with the sainted triple deuce - easy solution is when you first turn it on also start recording but immediately put it on standby, then when you take it off standby it is automatically in recording mode. Simples…

That is a neat way of getting around it, I shall try it. Shouldn't really have to though, it should just work at that price point I think

Yep but still a brilliant bit of kit as are the V1 and V2 - though neither recoil recorded with my triple deuce…

I have used a nocpix ace on a 270. You can adjust the sensitivity on it. I turned mine down a bit because it recorded a few trips and falls I had and I didn't want hse getting involved!!!
