good afternoon ,my terrier was involved in a dog fight and has a cut under his jaw that is still bleeding ,its very light red so not life threatening but i would like to stop it from bleeding ,it can not be bandaged or covered so a little tricky.i have used medicated powder but not helped. any safe for my dog and my hands ! recommendations ?

Personally, I'd be tempted to let it sort itself out. It will stop eventually.

However, if you're really keen to stop the bleed then you can wash it out and then close it up with super-glue. Needs to be clean, though: don't want to seal a load of sh1t inside the wound.

I was recommended to try Liquid Skin - basically a less-aggressive super glue - for a cut on our labrador's tail.

Haven't used it yet, though, just in case it causes the vet's here to have palpitations!

bathe it in salt water and box he or she up keep indoors for a couple of days and keep an eye on it.
Chip had a grass seed in his paw which I bandaged and dipped it in a jug of med hot salt water 4 times a day for 4 days. sorted it out v well.

Apply pressure to stop bleeding, but sometimes better to let it bleed a bit to flush out, then wash with salt water or hibiscrub, if it's the soft tissue between jaw bones keep an eye out for abscess forming if it's a deep puncture

Clean with salt water or detol and leave it ensuring its kept clean ifnots a fresh would the blood pressure will be up so will bleed more.will.soon clot naturally I can assure you terriers will.of had worse over the years and survived there a tough little animal.providing there kept warm and clean a little amoxycillin helps too if you've got some knocking about just to keep the nasties at bay

Liquid skin stings , depending on terriers temperament you might get a reaction you don’t want.
Wound power is good for helping blood clot

good evening ,i have been using wound powder and its stopped dripping so will monitor him but he seems ok and does not seem bothered, thank you for your replies

When I was a boy, I cut my finger knew my dad had a thing that he used if he cut his face ( styptic pencil)
Pushing it hard on the tip of my finger expecting the blood to stop, wow that pain is still fresh in my mind ove 40 years later 😂

Dog fights involve wounds you don’t see .Check him over thoroughly mate for any soreness elsewhere .Unless you saw the fight of course .

@Apthorpe
Lifetime of working dogs mate .Terriers mostly and came to realise the superficial cuts are nothing to worry about but internal trauma a different worry altogether .
