Dog bleeding from his penis

Just brought the spaniel back from a walk no drama in the house for ten minutes then all of a sudden noticed he is bleeding ( just a few drops) from his todger. Tried to have a gander but he’s having none of it. It does seem like it’s bleeding from outside suspect may have caught it on something.

Other wise he’s in good form isn’t licking it or anything.

Thoughts?

Has he been in stubble? as its common for them to get stubble cuts right on the edge of the urethral opening.

If he will let you, gently slide the prepuce (hairy foreskin bit) back to check the end of his glans penis (forbidden lipstick bit) for bruising/trauma.

If he wont let you and it doesnt clear up by tomorrow then I suggest a trip to see the vet of your choice.

There's a lot to be said for familiarising dogs with you touching all parts of their anatomy when they are puppies, so they are used to it and trust you. Wouldn't necessarily spend a great amount of time specifically on his todger, but you get the gist. Put fingers in his mouth, examine his ears, in between his paws, scratch his belly low down, that sort of thing.

However, I guess some dogs don't like their genitals poked about by a different species. Can you blame them?
