Dog on offer in Germany, should I?

I think I get where you are coming from. But even being in my 50's, I am seeing an alarming number of fit and seemingly healthy friends / associates shuffling off at my age or younger 😞
Life is full of uncertainties... if you feel that you can offer a good home, and want to, why not?

Last March I rehomed a 4y old Brittany Spaniel. I was looking for a dog but never thought of a Brittany neither of an adult dog. So far a great decission for the dog, my family and myself.

My experience has been great, so although I don´t know your circumstances, nor the dog´s as I don´t understand German, I back you up if you go for her ;)!

Heart says take it, mind says it wont be an easy transition.
How is it trained? Setters are specialists, does that breed suit you?

If you take her, she will break your heart, she has a couple of good years left, maybe, maybe she is fresh for her years because she hasn’t been out much. But she’s an old girl, she wont change what she does to suit you, and you wont own her, you may be the boss, but she’ll not be yours.
Can you still walk a bit and do you have access to a bit of territory where she can run? Take her.
If you dont have a dog, and you want a bit of company, take her.
I’m 70, I have 2 dogs, one 10, one 7 and I have health issues. I’m reluctant to commit to a pup but I’m not sure my current hounds will see me out.
Im fairly sure I wont be around in 10-14 years, but I still have one pup in me, it will be a HPR, (if I was much much older it would be a lab, just cant admit I’m there yet).

Your choice, and best of luck whichever way it goes.

Hopefully there was humour in Bavarianbrits comments.
At 69 I was recently gifted an 18 month old Cocker bitch. My current team are 7 yo lab, 10 yo ESS, and 2 retired 12 yo ESS, all bitches.
I had thought that the lab would see me out, but I beat 3 days a week minimum and I don't feel the need to stop just yet.
I know of two instances where older dogs were rehomed after owners death with people older than me. Both successful for dog and new owner.
