Today’s latest bit of EU nonsense - all dogs, including assistance dogs, being taken between GB and NI now require a Pet Passport and proof of rabies etc. jabs.
Today on the BBC News a govt spokesperson said “We have ensured there are no changes to the current pet travel rules for entry into Great Britain from Northern Ireland, and are working closely with the Northern Ireland Assembly to ensure a long-term solution which supports pet owners and assistance dog users entering Northern Ireland. We will continue to press the EU commission on awarding GB Part 1 listed status, recognising that achieving this would alleviate some of these new requirements.” Soooo if I read this govt-speak right a blind person travelling from NI can take his assistance dog to GB but cannot bring it back without said Pet Passport and proof of Rabies etc. jabs! Even worse although we have left the EU (where?) we have to ASK the now disconnected and unelected Commission for permission to travel with our pets within the UK? You really could not make it up!
