Seeing as I have lost two dogs this last year, one to old age and one is now a search dog, as he could not stay here and eat more clothing at 3k per op!
I will be looking for a new dog or bitch at the end of the season. (not a puppy)
My last two labs were a 2 year old 'failed' FT dog (bloody fantastic bitch that just was steady paced rather than quick) and a 15 month old 'failed ' grouse moor dog. both damn good retriever's although not the best at beating. We currently have two dogs.
Out of preference I will be looking for a Lab, preferably 1-2 years of age. 'part trained' - including basic obedience/steadiness/retrieves game, must be able to swim well (shoot over the Severn).
I use mine as house dog/pets/beating/stalking/wildfowling/pickers up on a small syndicate shoot/rough shooting dogs.
Reason for not wanting another pup, is that I do too many things and am not the best trainer, so have always improved rather than taught from scratch
I work part time and the dog could come to work with me.
