Must have been done to death, I did my Stalkers Certificate 28 yrs ago? I know' I should have sent my certificate off for upgrading. Anyhoo' What are my best options to try and catch up with the DSC1 Qualification? I require the complete Q&A's study material with out enrolling on a course just yet?
I tried some of the mock exams on-line with moderate results, enough mistakes to give a fail. The amount of questions seems to have expanded considerably in all categories.
What bedside reading should I advertise for? or does any one have a recent copy to sell or loan as they have achieved success in their recent exam?

Many Thanks everyone. OLD BC.

Thanks for the replies Gents. Found a question to ask, With my rifle on zero at 100yd, shooting exam required to shoot at a target 10 yd away. Where would the point of aim be to strike the required score area to pass?

Best if you can practice with your rifle and confirm this for yourself but I would start by aiming right at the top of the head, between the ears, where the black and white meet. Also, sorry to be pedantic, but the DSC1 range should be laid out in metres and the final stage head shot phase can be ‘between 10 and 20m’, I always shoot it at 20m as the ricochet/splash risk is reduced.

I’ve always wondered why in a country where the most common rifle ranges are 100 yards, the BDS chose to specify 100m.

BDS are just one Assessment Centre. The Awarding Body is DMQ, they set the standards and, presumably, made the decision to go with metric instead of imperial distances.

No 4” score zone anymore.
Oh thanks for that. looked it up as 10.16cm? & 100m = 109.3613298yd.

Also found a vacancy for my DSC1 with DEER CENTRAL at Bisley of all places, in striking distance of home, result! Thanks everybody, if you' are looking to do your DSC1 may be places available, the course I booked. MARCH 25.

Cool, give Ben a call then and he will confirm it for you. No 4” (or 10.16cm!) scoring zone anymore but don’t take my word for it.

BDS Ultimate Deer Data:

This is what I used. Excellent resource.
Good luck!!

Appreciated many thanks all.
I almost took the possible only cancelation place for 1st week in November, I requested a range instruction as felt unsure about it, Ben emailed me this morning to explain my options, if' the space was to become available? Given the extras I had requested were not catered for on that session, we agreed that I book the next available course and have more time to revise.
