Hi there, have done the odd pheasant day, but bird shooting of all kinds is quite new for me. Was wondering when duck flighting is allowed in terms of seasons/months - and if anyone has any tips for getting into it? Thank you!

My only tip would be, if you have got a bit of ground where you can scratch out a little pond, that’s a great way to get started with some duck shooting.
I can’t believe it’s been 5 years since I first “refurbished” the little pond I shoot on. I shoot a few evenings each season but I feed throughout now and it’s brilliant fun. Very rewarding.

Thanks for this, that’s a great idea! Reading your write up now.

Join a wildfowling club, then you can shoot on the foreshore until Feb 20th, it's a hard man's sport, but very rewarding if you don't mind hardship, cold, wet, and a frequently empty bag, I love it.

I’m definitely not a hard man! Haha, but I don’t mind the elements. Got a retriever coming and hoping to find something like this we can do together - plus finding the driven bird days too stuffy. Think it could be a great companion to stalking. Thanks!
