Duck flighting

We have a small pond on thefarm which we feed for flighting. Gets a good lot of Mallard and teal in the winter. Just over a mile away is a large lake that holds a lot in the daytime and by the farm buildings is another pond they use daytime. Started feeding recently and the ducks just don't seem to be flighting out to feed yet. Are we too early to start feeding?

We feed all year round and bring off bundles of broods

Lots of food in the fields at the moment though and as has been mentioned in another thread many ducks are moulting

Assuming you have a lot of stubble fields nearby, they'll be there. However with the speed that discs follow combine then plough follows discs, they'll be back on your ponds soon enough.

Start feeding a little and they will soon find it, it's a lot easier for them to feed on a pond than on a field.
