Has anyone tried this attachment on a drill to use to pluck ducks / pheasants or other game birds? Or any other good methods for removing feathers/down

Don’t waste your money

Out of interest did you put the birds in scalding water first? I've seen pretty good results with these online as long as the birds were scalded for 30-60 seconds.

The washing machine type ones with a cold water feed look very effective but a bit too expensive for doing a few quail a year.

I tried one of those drill attachments with no success to be honest, still best a steady pluck then show it a blow lamp twice over to get it a decent sight, or as previously mentioned de - breast or skin off, very quick and no mess.
Mallard I do whole, Canada's & Greys, teal, widgeon just breast out - rest is fox bait

The plan was to roast a whole duck with a view to turn it into crispy shredded duck with pancakes if someone has a recipe or a way to do it with just the breast meat that would be ideal!

If you are hand plucking remove pheasant feathers against the grain as it were and duck feather with the grain. I’ve done hundreds in a previous life.

Tried all sorts and still ended up with sausage meat with feathers in it or no plucking at all

Why not wax them? (real thing) It supposedly works well for waterfowl at least, pheasant you'd be highly disappointed within a minute as you'd rip all the skin off.

I’ve used one on pheasants and ducks with good results on both, it’s takes practice though. Pheasants are easier than ducks but it does them both well. The trick is to get the scalding temperature right and with ducks especially you need to give them plenty of dunks, lifting them out by the legs quickly to really get the water against the skin and open the pores. The biggest downside for me is the mess. It sends wet feathers all over the place, not a problem if you’re not in a small town garden maybe. I ended up mounting it in a plastic barrel, now the feathers are contained in the barrel and easily cleaned up.

Our shoot bough a cheap “ Pheasant Plucker MC” you connected a hose to it and it rotated the birds in like a drum. Brilliant if you only want half the feathers removing and the rest of the bird scarified. Often in life you do get what you pay for
