Efoam Cut To Measure Warning

I placed an order for some cut to measure foam with efoam. It was for a peli 1750 case. The foam arrived while I was away. When I checked the foam I noticed that the three pieces were exactly 50mm thick instead of the 45mm ordered. When I contacted them to tell them that the foam was the wrong size they quoted a tolerance which was mentioned in their T&Cs (15.5.5 🙄) which can be up to +/- 10mm. They also said that you must inform them of any issues within two days of receiving the foam, which in my case wouldn't have been any good as it was within the 10mm tolerance. In my opinion they just cut a 50mm thick piece to the width and length that I required because that's probably what was lying about.

In summary, don't use efoam for cut to size foam as they charge extra for the cutting service and you aren't guaranteed to get the sizes you want.

Used them more times than I can remember, never had a issue.

Won’t the foam compress the extra ?

If not, get another piece 35mm thick, and you’ll have a 50mm as a spare.

Or, get a piece of the egg box foam for the lid, which is only 35mm deep, and that should do it

No it won't compress 15mm. Not really the point of buying bespoke sizes and then having to buy more to make up for them providing the wrong size.

I can only speak about Anyfoam.co.uk. Easy web site especially on size requirements came 2 days later and was perfect. It was to go in a Peli 1750 got 3 middle foams for circa £34 I put a thread on here recommending them to others

I have used E foam for years and many times with no problems at all.
I fully recommend them.

I find it a bit difficult to believe that the foam won't compress 5mm. Of course if you needed 35mm and ordered 45mm it is hardly the suppliers fault.

Have used efoam many times over the years & have recommended them to others - I don’t make recommendations just off the cuff, only if I’m genuinely happy with their service.

I had one instance when the foam wasn’t cut to the correct size & when I raised this with them they sent me the correct size with no questions.

As others have said, instead of 3x 45mm thicknesses you’re probably better off with a thinner centre piece as its purpose is to stop the contents sliding from side to side or need to end. It doesn’t need to fill the gap between the other two pieces - they will compress & hold the rifle(s) well enough.

You’ll also find that the thinner centre piece is a LOT easier to cut to take the rifle(s) than a 45mm thick piece!

Failing that, if you really need foam that’s millimetre perfect, go to the people stalker62 used for his pelican case but make sure you’ve got your credit card handy!!

Hey, I've just ordered a second hand PELI 1720 case. What thickness / type of foam did you order? There are so many options to chose! TIA

I meant to add if you want the exact dimension of the foams google replacement foams as Peli and others sell them it will give you the dimensions. The only one you cut is the centre one so last time I just ordered 3 centre foams the lid and the base don’t get cut. Below is the dimension look at the Internal dimensions

Here is the problem. You didn’t read the T&C's. Your fault.
Most people don’t. But you should.
To be fair even if I had used them and read their T&C's I wouldn't expect a 25% tolerance in the size of foam I ordered to be a likely outcome.

I'd accept 10mm give or take on a 1000mm cut of foam but not a 45mm piece.

I've used E foam for years and never had a problem, I've just looked out their advert/sheet from my workbox and on it is written in pencil 93x35x5cm so that must be one of the sizes I ordered and as far as I can remember, none of the sheets they supplied did not fit nicely in any of the peli's I've had over the years.
