Not sure if it is the weather but I would say the cover and food with the block behind where this doe was shot used to be topped twice a year (3 acres) but the owner has left it to run wild, dense willows so perfect habitat for all sorts.
A 2 year wild bird mix also a damp evening the thermal spotter was not liking the conditions, but there was enough to say "muntjac" so I moved up wind knowing it was not far from the thick cover this also made the shot choice what it was. Nothing fancy knock it over drag it back clean it out and home for tea, she was head up head down a fair bit so that ruled out the neck shot, H/L a dash for cover! pin the shoulders is the best of those.
Nice condition been eating very well with the fat content and mid term fetus so nothing dependent to concern with.
