Let me know if you need any further help e.g. with telling the difference between an apple and a banana.
Robert Smith. What does an English sound like, then?

I'll give you Smith, but I'm pretty sure Robert is of German origin.Robert Smith.
I think it was rather stupid of you to suggest that you could tell where someone was (or wasn't) born, simply by their name.Asking facile questions about Saxon names is not only stupid but misses the point entirely.
Splitting hairs, you know what I mean. I'm a Robert Smith, and as British as they comeI'll give you Smith, but I'm pretty sure Robert is of German origin.

So, you claim to be "British" despite the German origins of your name? Sound more like an immigrant, with a name like that! I'm not sure if you should be allowed to stay.Splitting hairs, you know what I mean. I'm a Robert Smith, and as British as they come![]()
I couldn't care less where he was born.I think it was rather stupid of you to suggest that you could tell where someone was (or wasn't) born, simply by their name.
Well, I've left it a little late to go, I should have followed my dream and gone to NZ 30 years ago and become a "Trout Bum"So, you claim to be "British" despite the German origins of your name? Sound more like an immigrant, with a name like that! I'm not sure if you should be allowed to stay.
Don't know why but the name "Biggus Dicus" popped into my head when I read this. (Made up name). The police chief of a Canadian city has been fired. Farood sheikh was an English cop hired as police chief in Regina, Saskatchewan. Turned out as I expected: fired for cause with no payout or pension. He was found : discredible conduct and interference.
Would you like to bet this person does not have English origins? What does an English sound like, then?
D.
I think that's quite disingenuous.I think it was rather stupid of you to suggest that you could tell where someone was (or wasn't) born, simply by their name.
Anyone who has to ask or seeks to debate what Englishness or Britishness is bears responsibility for the fracturing and polarisation of the country over the past couple of decades.
One cannot simply move to a new country for 5 years, pay a small fee and then magically become British (and the same applies anywhere else).
Asking facile questions about Saxon names is not only stupid but misses the point entirely.
Excessive immigration has been a massive disaster and pretending that it isn't does nobody any good and does colossal and probably irrecoverable harm.
