Higher fuel prices aren't going to go away I'm afraid. The way I see it panning out:
1) People don't want to pay the prices so leave their cars at home and walk or use public transport = not sustainable alternatives for majority
2) People don't want to pay so move somewhere else for cheaper fuel = UAE experiences influx of people looking to run their Ford Focus on a shoestring
3) Men with megaphones cause the total collapse of fuel prices because they're shouting on the streets of Manchester and hit the earnings and valuation of fuel companies nationwide. Pension schemes dependent on the strong performance of these companies and their dividends take a hit and the bottom falls out of our future earnings and we still can't afford to fill up our cars because our pensions are worth diddly you know what.
Slightly tongue in cheek but you get the sentiment.
