European Union lawmakers have agreed to make USB-C a common charger for all phones and electronic devices sold in the EU from 2024.

Are they also going to dictate the colour, length of charging lead, etc.? Surely there are plenty of other things more worthy of the time & effort, not to mention cost, than this!?

It would be quite a sensible regulation, if it hadn’t taken them over a decade to arrange, and I can’t help feeling the USB-C is about to be, or perhaps already has been, rendered redundant by better technology.
How do you have innovation in areas where regulators have made it illegal?

If only they could pass regulations to reduce the burden of regulations and bureaucracy.
