good evening all i have applied for my fac for a 22 and 17-hmr i have had the cabinet checks and interviews and already hold a shotgun certificate and so far i am on day 125 i am in Somerset... has anyone else had it quicker and is anyone else having the same problem
thanks

These days you can grow old waiting for a new certificate, depending where you are. I have no idea about things where you are, but it's maybe worth a polite phone call asking what the timescales are, so at least you've got an idea. Assuming they don't take 3 months to answer the 'phone that is.

yea i tried that and they said they cant give a timescale

6 months for me in Somerset I'm afraid. Got it last month, applied in Jan. Unfortunately Avon and Somerset are one of the slowest. They seemed helpful otherwise.

I'm in county Durham and my application was received on the 14th November 2020

I have in recent weeks had my interview and my land checked, so now it's just a waiting game, I hope it doesn't go into 10 months and it comes before September

Fingers crossed

did you have shotgun before hand?
Hi, no it was my first application for both FAC and SGC. They are under staffed from what i understand. Just noticed that you have already had your interview, my certs came through fairly soon after my interview so I shouldn't think you'll be waiting too much longer. I do feel your pain though mate!

Looks like 161 days is average, link below.

i am on 124 now lol thanks again

I’m on day 52 so a long way to go.

What kind of warning do you get before the interview? I don’t have a cabinet yet and figured I’d leave it until I hear from the FEO.

you will probably just get a phone call i had already installed my cabinet and had to video and email pictures to shiw how i fixed it

I didn’t get any warning before my phone interview. Already had the cabinet for my airguns and had to send photos. Not sure if you actually have to have the cabinet in place before the interview, I thought you could just explain where you planned to locate it (otherwise people who get refused would have shelled out for nothing). You’re obviously expected to have a cabinet before you buy anything though. I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong on that 🙂.

I know it's hard but don't be impatient, it could go against you. No problem with your polite enquiry re timescales though

I emailed my force earlier in the week and they were happy to give me an estimated time for picking my application up. May be worth a shot 👍🏼

Cabinet needs to be in place for inspection whether that’s over the phone or in the old days in person. If you didn’t have it in place for the interview they would have to come out a second time to inspect which would be a bit of a waste of their time.
