FAC renewal

Hi. Quick question that I'm sure someone can answer - with the expected increase in FAC / SC renewals, is it possible to renew early? I've got a while to go on my co-terminus certificates and while I haven't confirmed the costs might it be better to renew early before the price more than doubles?

Herts say don’t apply within 6 months as your medical certification only lasts for 6 months, so if you apply early then it can run out before they look at your renewal.

That makes good sense .. 😁it only lasts 6 months but your certificate lasts 5 years .
Yeah, it’s a bit nuts, but afaik they can’t look at your medical records at their whim, so this is a snapshot up to a point that they can be sure of.
I’m not sure, but if you suddenly started having medical issues that might raise concerns about firearm ownership, is the Dr duty bound to notify the police?

Yes. From Surrey Police website, they state

The GP is asked to notify the police if, following issue of the certificate, you are diagnosed with or treated for a relevant medical condition (listed above), or if the GP has other concerns about your possession of a certificate that might affect your safe possession of firearms

I’m not sure , there will be other people on here who will know for sure but I would like to believe that if a competent Dr had a concern about a firearm holders mental health or any concern after his certificate had been issued it would be brought to the attention of the appropriate authority quickly .As I’m a joiner and in the process of renewing my ticket I’m smiling at people - saying good morning - arriving at jobs with a smile and trying to be a generally nice person - somebody actually commented how didn’t I take things one step further and give clients discounts on there bills 😒I’m sure my Dr would have concerns with me if I did that 😁👍
