Last couple of outings.
Outing 1 - first light as is often the case these days. Plenty of does and fawns about but no boys showing. Last field before heading back to the truck and there were 2 bucks out grazing. Quick stalk in (the hedge provides perfect cover) then onto the sticks. Dropped him on the spot at about 100 yards to a high neck shot. Decent size buck (for this area) but poor head.

Headed out a couple of days later to another patch of ground, in the dark to start off with as theres a fair bit of walking to get to the deer. Stalked into the first small group with nothing shootable. I was alerted to the presence of a buck by some belching coming from the other side of a small wood. Quick 10 minute backtrack and it was just getting to legal light. Got set up whilst keeping a keen eye on the time and after confirming it was 5 mins legal I dropped the buck to a high neck shot. The rest of the group ran about 50 yards but one seemed keen to come back so suspected he would be a pricket. He stopped about 5 yards from the buck and met the same fate to a high neck shot around 80 yards away.

Apologies for the presentation ..... deer were straight into the tubs to be moved back to somewhere sensible for suspended gralloch.
