Fallow Rut 24

The rut is just getting started here in Wales, the does were out feeding and there were 2 bucks grunting, one to my left about 80m and one to my right about 150m and the girls didn’t look impressed 😂👍🏻

The bucks here are it now, in such a worked up state that two great bucks were shot off the stands by two next door idiots last week. You'll never be able to put old heads on youngsters when allowed to be let loose wth a rifle by equally uncaring elders. Such a pity but there we go.

They are in full swing in Monmouthshire. The bucks on my ground are making a lot of noise.

I’ve been out twice a wk since end of last month and seen a few bucks about but not a sound until this morning.
East Sussex, Ashdown Forest.
Buck I shot this morning was pretty smelly and rut ready but definitely not rutting.
Does in same field and he was hardly bothered. IMG_3189.webp

Last weekend I had lots of activity, few warm days this week and it’s stopped again, big boys hidden away and does in small groups.

I went to Dunham Massey near Altrincham last weekend in the late afternoon and I’m pretty sure that their rut is over. There was no groaning at all, there were a few single mature (but not “master” bucks) bucks lying out by themselves and showing no interest in the does of which there were several groups of up to a dozen with no mature bucks in attendance, just a few prickets.

One was still grunting in the valley this evening. It has virtually stopped.
Got this one tonight he was in a rush heading somewhere
