Fallow rut??

Knocked over a real stinker on Monday. I’ve two route’s for carcasses I don’t want, butchers & pet food.
Spoke to an old butcher mate about the stinker (fallow) and his advice would be okay for eating but get the jacket off sooner rather than later - butchery outlet it was.
Interested in others thoughts on taint in the meat.
Exactly what I do jacket off asap eaten a few fallow bucks in the rut and once the jackets off the venison isn’t bad at all

Gone very quiet in Hampshire this last few days. Cameras aren’t picking up anywhere near as much activity day or night and not heard more than the odd grunt. Weather probably to blame and could kick off again soon. Had been lots of activity, so perhaps they’re just getting their breath back.

Feeding round this evening I spotted a lot of fallow! Does all over moving and bucks appearing from all boundaries. A couple had a tussle on a ride in front of me! I suspect the rut is still not full on on our ground. The weather is odd though.

The Smaller ( by a long way) of the 2 bucks I saw yesterday morning, waited 20 years to shoot a nice fallow buck, back to thackng does
Lovely, I was lucky enough to take one a touch smaller than that a couple of years ago. Rightly or wrongly, I leave them be this time of year, they'll soon seem to move away from my bit of ground and then return around March and I'll try take a couple of weaker antlered older bucks. Typically not a sign of a doe today!
