So after coming out with me on several occasions sitting up a high seat, this evening I finally managed to take the first deer with my 6 year old son, a smile says it all.

Well done, moment to treasure. Some of my fondest memories are hunting with dad, despite his lack of patience with noisy small boys.
Best of luck to both of you in future endeavours together.
That's fantastic, it's what I'd usually describe as a fish grin, but a muntjac smile works too. I've just put mine to bed for an early start tomorrow for his second day shooting. We shall see!
Thanks everyone. He's not old enough to understand why I've passed on a few deer previously but this evening, everything fell into place. We're going to skin it tomorrow, mum's going to tan it and then process it Sunday.
My son was six also when he saw his first buck downed. Ours was a roe buck in the rut. Something I’ll never forget. Wait till he takes his own first deer, pride doesn’t cover it.
well done Memorable day lab77 for you and your son
i remember first days i took my lad deer stalking he shouted out “there’s one “ dad. On the second outing of his deer stalking career
Thankfully he has improved somewhat now and tells me off for even whispering when we share a high seat and I’m told to concentrate my energy on the matter in hand
