Feeder For Deer

Because there was over 100 reds in the close area , the permission was 250 acres with only 100 acres shootable and no one was shooting them, so we use the Feed to lure them in, but never shot them at the Feed site always too and away from, and to be fair, it’s not done **** all difference to the numbers,

There still over 100 reds in the area, that year we shot just shy of 40 and not beat it since!

And before anybody says it’s getting a night license, I certainly won’t lower my standards and get one, I won’t use digit or thermal scopes, I won’t lower my standards!
Why is using all the tools available lowering your standards?

By your own admission the approach you’re using isn’t working.

I’m not fussed not my problem anymore I gave it up 3 years ago

There’s not enough money in it for me to hump red deer about in the dark that’s for sure, plus shooting the reds on such a small piece of ground puts pressure on them in the dark if I was to use a night license therefore they wouldn’t be there therefore it’s a pointless exercise

Everything you post is negative , whatever happened to going stalking to enjoy yourself ?

Most stalkers dont do it for the money .

If its not your problem anymore why do you keep going on about it ?

I understand once you reach a certain level of culling the keenness and desire wanes compared to when starting out.

I’ve already ****ed my back dragging red deer about, plus I’ve killed enough!

I no longer have the blood lust I once did and to be fair I enjoy my stalking more for it.

If people find that they need to do it, to just squeeze the trigger and justify themselves carry them on, I’m not gonna stop them certainly, but that does come a point when enough is enough.

And I most certainly won’t be doing it at night. I’m simply not that desperate obviously there are members on here that are clearly desperate to Pull the trigger.

You used to do it and presented a well reasoned argument for your reasons for doing so above?

That's exactly what I was saying , blood lust wanes once a certain level is reached.

I appreciate that is where you are at but there are plenty to take your place.

I also have reached a point shooting deer where I am not as keen as I was.

Haven't even dragged my ass out of bed yet at dawn to look for a buck but I will this weekend.

I have never shot a deer after legal hours, yes I have shot shadows at the very gnats cock of first and last light that I will admit, but I’ve never broken the legal stalking hours of one before and one after!

Yes I once was a murdering bastard that’s for sure and I have never denied it, but there does come a point when enough is enough!

All this might licence lark is absolutely borlicks, all the newbies all racing to buy the latest thermal and digital scopes etc, there was even one member on the SD who said he had a night license just in case the fallow crossed the top corner of his permission 😂 now that is desperation!

And like I said, I won’t lower my standards. I stick to the rules of one hour before and one hour after with glass.

I’m not even gonna replace my thermal when it breaks because I’m a firm believer if you can stalk properly without all the gadgets and you can kill, deer you will be a far better stalker/dear manager not another desperate trigger puller!

There was once a point when I had 8 lowland red Hinds down in a sugar beet field, that’s when you sit yourself down and you realise that you really arê a tw@t and was it worth it!?

We were talking about feeders, not night shooting

I've been feeding whole maize for Boar, but found that the roe were also liking it. Ran out of whole maize last month so tried " Tick Beans" coated them with molasses, the roe love them, the down side is so do the badgers..

Have you ever seen over 100 lowland reds in a herd?

Not talking about the little Scottish variety!?

The BIG ones! 😂😂😂
All hinds, not including the 50-75 stags that reside in the lower portion of the field..... at least these are Scottish reds! so there not as big I couldnt imagine being down south with hinds 80kg+

Seen more than this by double or triple than this before just no pics, kind of glad I dont shoot here almost too easy I think there's a larder maybe 300 yards from this photo lol.

All client sales I think public sporting estate.
