FHF Bino harnesses vs others

Anybody got any experience ??

Every time I think I know what I’m looking at my mind wanders or I see a post and the list gets longer again 🙄

Now down to either:

1. Marsupial Bino pack
2. Badlands Bino Mag 2
3. Badlands Bino AXS
4. FHF FOB Bino harness

Looking at purchasing some Delta Titanium RF Bino’s so all of the above fit (The Bino’s seem to be excellent for the price with rave reviews).

Opinions taken please ??

TIA,
Si

How you gonna get item #4 into the Country?

K
Google search has just brought up a couple of EU sellers. Failing that, try and pick one up next time I’m in the states I guess 🤷‍♂️

In fact, the others all come from around the world so prepared to pay shipping if required.

The smaller and more slimline the better.

Some of the bino harnesses listed are more like a chest-worn bags than binocular harness. To the extent that it will be difficult to crawl and shoot from prone.

The original FHF Harness is extremely low profile and trim, better protection compared to the Red Kettle UK made one but that is another low profile option which is readily available here.

The newer KUIU Harness is OK.

Wise words as every stalker should know their bra harness size:

Does the Kuiu harness have room for a thermal too (Axion XM30 sized)?

Not on your shortlist (sorry), I got Harkila mountain hunter a few months ago, looks similar to the FHF (that I have no experience of) but is way better than the Red Kettle harness, for me anyway, it holds the thermal secure and doesn't feel like a bunch of wrap around webbing. Just don't wish to be seen putting it on in public....a bit like float tubing, once on and in action its ok, until then it can look a desperate way to enjoy oneself.

YouTube is your friend here as all those will have in-depth reviews from multiple users.

After plenty of looking and watching reviews I decided on an Eberlestock Recon bino harness. It's small and slimline and the straps are actually the right way round to adjust while wearing it!

The website lists various binoculars and what size harness to buy.

Like all Eberlestock gear it's really good quality and modular so if you want to keep it for just binos it's small, light and fits nicely but if you want to add pouches then there's Molle on the side wings and can add a pouch underneath or even a hand warmer.

Marsupial for me and I know of quite a few other very satisfied users
I tried a couple of different harnesses but didn't like them so I bought a marsupial one and it's great. Very neat and compact and binos can be taken out and in easily.

Just not long picked up a (used) Alaskan Guide Harness from another member on here, has front pocket that will take Pulsar Axion thermal, it's a bit tight, but does fit, I've been on the look out for a suitable pouch to add to harness, so I manafed to pick up Kuiu pouch tonight so hopefully that will do the job.

Not really been used in anger as yet, apart from couple stalks out on Roe over some of my local perms , been flawless so far, accommodates my Vortex Furys quite comfortably and has couple extra pockets, and still not too bulky at all, sits well with my Vorn backpack so think itll work well out on the Reds, heading to Arran mid Aug for a 7 day trip, with 9 day trips sorted every month till Jan, with a 14 day trip sorted for October, so looking forward to seeing how it performs there, just need Calmac to open up winter time table to get ferries booked, as nothing 100% confirmed (ferry wise) after my boat over on 4th Oct, currently getting there with no return boat as yet booked...

The newest Alaska Guide model is as close to FHF as makes no difference, and is available in the UK (I think it’s called ‘Ravus’).

I have held off for a very long time with making this comment. I have a Kuiu harness I use for Leica 8x42 HD and an Alaska Guide creations labeled as Vortex. This was because at the time there was no U.K. distributor and it was cheaper than importing one. In this harness I store Leica Geovid HD-B 8x42.

After a few years use I can categorically say that forward opening is the way any Binocular harness should be made. The flap on the Alaska Guide harness gets in the way as gravity flips it back down when the binoculars are removed so it takes two hands to then place them back. I stalk with sticks and rely on them for balance due to a leg injury so it is more profound now but I certainly experienced it before as on hand is always holding sticks.

It’s big and bulky but doesn’t get in the way of crawling. Although it depends on body build how it will sit on the individual. I don’t even fill all the pockets, there is just no need IMHO.

The Kuiu is a lot slimmer but it’s housing a smaller binocular so I can’t appraise it as a direct comparison. However I am looking for the XL to come up in the Px section as I’m too cheap to buy new at current prices 🤣
