Field Result of Fox Classic Hunter

There are usually three or four posts asking about non lead choices and efficacy on various targets, shot placement blood trail etc at any one time on here.

I have done several of these on various brands but current ones can only help add to the data set.

This is one to show some real world results that have been replicated in the thousands by various Forest Agencies and volume users.
Relatively Low BC, expanding (non fragmenting), non lead bullet.

Roe
200m (slightly elevated position)
Very Aware
308 130gr Fox Classic Hunter
MV 2850fps
Terminal velocity circa 2140fps (strelok)
Tikka T3 20” barrel

Placement - heart
Reaction to shot - ran across open moorland approximately 40-50yds
(a shoulder shot would no doubt have reduced this)

Notes:
Blood trail was visible to the naked eye from range.
Patches of blood 6-12” every 2-3ft

Carcase:
Small entry through onside (left) lower leg (1/2”)
Larger exit above (right) sternum (2”)
Heart took direct hit but also exhibited several cuts to atria.
Onside leg broken at elbow
Carcase otherwise clean without secondary wound channels.

The length of run was impressive given the blood loss and broken leg but not unusual for a heart shot fully aware animal.

A blind man could follow this blood trail!

Clean carcase
Easy to see blood trail
Traditional heart shot placement
Low terminal velocity with obvious expansion on small framed/thin skinned target.

(NB: OOS in place)

Good write up. I’m a follower of new non-lead bullets. Tried Sako Powerhead blade on reds last season and outcome was equivocal to my usual lead based bullets. I’m sure the Fox bullets perform equally well too, although I’ve yet to try them.

Well done for bringing visual results of Fox bullets to the forum.

I use these in 124 grain in 6.5x55 in my homeloads.
No issues whatsoever. Great round. Regularly taking all species from muntjac to large fallow. Must’ve shot 50+ deer with them by now. Photo below was light nights muntjac taken at less than 50m. It had entry wound just behind shoulder, exit wound is visible. It dropped it where it stood - you can see the blood spatter by it’s feet. I have no hesitation in trusting these rounds.
